Government Canyon - Joe Johnston Route
| The Joe Johnston Route is the trail closest to the park headquarters. It proceeds north through Government Canyon for four miles on a virtually straight line with very little elevation change to the northern boundary of the park, where it becomes the northern end of Sendero Balcones. Highlights are the Spanish moss and the Zizelman House. Trails branching off from the Joe Johnston Route are Caroline's Loop and the Overlook Trail to the west, while Wildcat Canyon, Twin Oaks, and Little Windmill go off to the east and join Sendero Balcones. |
